"Keynote speakers from associations and industry leaders provided our attendees with insight on the latest trends, including advice on how to optimize plastics and technologies to support sustainable packaging, as well as innovative printing and labelling," said Wiwiek Roberto, Project Director of Pamerindo Indonesia. Taking part at the sessions are Indonesian Plastics Recyclers (IPR), Indonesian Packaging Federation (IPF), Association of Indonesian Soft Drink Producers (ASRIM), Komunitas Printing Indonesia (KOPI Grafika); and exhibitors such as Benua Kencana Makmur, Kawata Marketing Indonesia plastics machinery, ARBURG plastics processing, and Bilplast Grapindo packing materials.

A major problem of today's packaging industry is multilayer plastics that are difficult to recycle. A seminar session about "Moving Indonesian Plastics Recycling to the Next Level" led by Indonesian Plastics Recyclers (IPR) stated that the main reason includes low recycle rates with lower amounts of waste management and disassembly.

During his session about packaging strategy for a circular economy, Henky Wibawa, Executive Director of Indonesian Packaging Federation (IPF), added that the industry needs to increase the entire life cycle of a product by designing for disassembly, reduce, reuse, and safer recycling. "Consumers now have stronger influence of sustainable packaging. If we succeed, this will significantly increase the purchasing power for better income, as well as maintaining quality and value of the material to optimize the economic impact of the circulation," said Henky Wibawa.

According to seminar sessions led by ASRIM about "Opportunities and Challenges in Fast-Food Beverage Industry," Indonesia is now experiencing the largest growth in food & beverages sectors compared to other sectors such as furniture, paper, and **. A session about "Government Support and Regulation to Succeed Drink industry" by Indonesian Ministry of Industry added that beverages and soft drink industries are now among the most mature industries in Indonesia, with vast majority of exporting food & beverages sector is coming from these industries.

Therefore, the government continues to demonstrate new regulation to prove its support for these potential sectors, such as reduction of net income by up to 30% of the total investment and compensation for losses of up to 10 years. Smart packaging will contribute to boost economy in Indonesia. With government are now rushing to support the industry, this will lead to major success in the coming years.
