This is the first part of our feature series with Karen New, the author of Wish I Knew and Samuel Lay of DLF Holdings. The next ones are coming through very soon! Stay tuned.

2020 has been the year that many of us wished for as it has long been instilled on our minds, that; eventually, flying cars would be a reality, to the existence of robots such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assisting us with our daily tasks and activities.

We have seen the evolution of technologies and how things are developing and now; witnessing the change that we all kind of expected to materialize in the future. Of course, the reality of 2020 has been a bit different, with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and the new normal too.

From technological sites, to supply chains and even human resources, everything has now been made easier, less complex and direct for us all to enjoy it while we complete other matters that would still require the existence of humans and key features that it represents.

ABR hosted an interactive chat between DLF Holdings, Samuel Lay and a reputable serial technopreneur and author of Wish I Knew, Karen New recently on the matters of future technology, specifically on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). As the first CryptoBook author being published in Singapore, Karen also has a wide experience in cryptocurrency investment with her specialty in ICO, Software, Blockchain and more. Nonetheless to say, words and experiences play a huge role in changing the world, bit by bit or at large. Without further ado, let’s start the ball rolling!

Transformation of Digital Assets

Starting with the whole ordeal of getting “future” technology into the traditional system to even corporate conversations, all of this can be a long process of adapting, understanding to eventually applying to the change that many are getting on board with. Samuel stated that tapping into the economic advantage of Blockchain gives a prime example of how traditional businesses can diversify in total. In fact, it also reduces the group’s resiliency on existing business portfolios as it provides upcoming ventures of revenues in a total transformational aspect.

Decentralization Concept Is Up Front

As Karen pointed out, managing to understand the technology of Blockchain to Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) from Bitcoin at the beginning of it all, she started to understand it further upon the inception of Ethereum. When we asked how did it feel to discover it and what made the change happen, she was eternally grateful for it. “I realized that decentralization gives me this nostalgic, DéJà Vu feeling of.. internet!”

The World Wide Web (WWW) only started to bloom when people noticed the importance of it, to the whole aspect of what it does to society, and our lives. From sending a message for someone across the globe, to finding out about any information and getting that first read of future technology.

Nothing Comes Easy

When we first got into the world, our journey through life was always about trial and error. We took our time to understand that, and our existence is a result of evolutionary excellence.  Karen mentioned that despite the fear of technology changing the way we understand communication or even comics in general, surprises always abound along the way.

Henceforth, Smart Contracts, Bitcoin to even Blockchain have slowly become the de facto standards in all parts of the world. The whole idea of any knowledge including the future technology is not about owning or winning, but it is essentially on realizing that every single change to the transformational journey in all sectors of our lives matters ; and will always do. Karen and Samuel attest on the essential elements of this fusion, namely being: TRUST and UNDERSTANDING.

With vast knowledge in the technology world and research assets, one can easily capture the essence of a good change for the ultimate benefit of mankind.
