About the Asian Television Awards

Launched in 1996, Asian Television Awards (ATA) is the Asian TV industry's most celebrated event, recognising excellence in programming, production and performance.

Determined by an expert panel of over 60 judges from across the region, the results are tabulated and audited by international auditing firm PwC, with the winners announced during the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner each December.

The awards comprise 38 categories that encompass programming, performance, and technical genres and is today considered the television awards event that most represent Asia; with virtually every major regional player participating. ATA entries now number in the thousands, with a wide range of broadcasters, including free-to-air television stations and pay-TV platforms, as well as independent production houses across Asia submitting entries each year. ATA is also evolving with industry trends -- with multi-platform viewing and digital content driving industry growth, ATA will continue to factor digital content creators and other emerging business as possible entrants to the awards.

Over the years, the format of the awards has also evolved. From its initial years as a simple award and dinner ceremony, it is now a full-day event comprising the ATA Showcase (conference track), Superpitch (content pitch competition), and culminates in a celebratory Gala Dinner.

The 2013 installment of ATA will be televised on a regional pay-TV platform -- a first in the awards' 18th-year history; making ATA truly the only event of its kind within Asia, and one that upholds a prestigious reputation of showcasing and applauding quality television productions across the region.
