Global Solicitation for Proposals for Sichuan Tianfu New Area Logo Design

CHENGDU, China, Feb. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The global solicitation for the logo and promotion planning proposals for Sichuan Tianfu New Area ("STNA") was officially initiated by the Office of Sichuan Tianfu New Area Administration Committee ("the Committee") on January 25, 2016. Apart from delivering cultural references and displaying international modernization, the proposals shall conform to STNA's strategic orientations, "The pole of Western economy and high ground of technology innovation; an international modern area primarily devoted to the manufacturing industry and high-end service industry; a city eligible for business and habitation." Each winner of the selected logo design and proposal will receive an award of RMB30,000.

Different from a traditional economic development zone, STNA will be developed into a modern ecological area

As the 11th New Area at the national level, STNA was officially approved for establishment on October 2, 2014. Located in the southeast urban area of Chengdu, the planned scope is 1,578 square kilometers covering 37 townships (including towns & streets) of 7 counties (cities & districts) in Chengdu, Meishan and Ziyang.

Different from a traditional economic and technological development zone, STNA will protect and improve its natural resources and environment, comprehensively optimizing the artificial environment and cultural references to build an urban area that integrates international modernization with unique local features, so as to develop a "Modern Ecological Garden City."

There will be 9 districts with different styles and features, including the core urban hill and water district, a technological and cultural district, a high-tech industry district, a strategic new industry district, a distinguishing competitive industry district, a high-end manufacturing district, 1 hill and 2 lake landscape districts, a modernized garden district and an ecological recreation district.

Five Core Functions

The Five Core Functions of STNA include:

• comprehensive innovative reform;
• high-end industry cluster districts;
• opening the economic "highland" of inland cities;
• a livable city eligible for business and industry;
• a demonstration district of overall planning for urban and rural integration.

All of these functions will help to direct STNA's growth and expansion. The Sichuan Provincial Committee of CPC and the Sichuan Provincial Government have issued guidance for speeding up the construction of STNA.

RMB30, 000 Award and Detailed Specifications for Logo Design

To highlight the regional feature of STNA, promote its popularity and influence, build brand image and drive growth and development, the Committee has initiated a global solicitation for logo and promotion planning proposals for STNA.

The logo design project includes logo rendering, name and design explanation. The promotion planning  project will be mainly text content in WORD and PPT format. RMB30,000 will be awarded to one final winner for each proposal. RMB 2,000 will be awarded to the remaining four finalists in each project category.

Submissions will be accepted from individuals and entities all over the world. Logo submissions should be based on the regional and culture features of STNA, with a distinct theme, creativity, a simple outline and a profound message, with a high-level visual impact. It should also be unique, something that is easily remembered and can be used in promotional materials.

There are five basic standards that logo submissions must follow:

1. a visual symbol representing Sichuan cultural characteristics;
2. a brand image for the global market;
3. impressing and implying the general orientation, development goals and strategic image of STNA;
4. takes into consideration the practical application and extension of the logo on banners, street signs, advertisements, etc.;
5. proposals must consider both online and offline uses.

The logo design selction process will include four stages:

1. public solicitation from January 25, 2016 to March 25, 2016;
2. preliminary evaluation by an expert board from March 26, 2016 to April 10, 2016, after which 5 finalists will be selected;
3. from April 11, 2016 to April 24, 2016, the 5 finalists' designs will be published on STNA's official media channels for public voting;
4. from April 25, 2016 to April 30, 2016, the Committee will select one winning logo design based on expert evaluations, public comments and Internet voting results.

The promotion planning proposals selection process will include three stages:

1. public solicitation from January 25, 2016 to April 10, 2016;
2. preliminary evaluation by an expert board from April 10, 2016 to April 24, 2016, followed by a selection of 5 finalists by the Committee based on expert evaluation;
3. from April 25, 2016 to April 30, 2016, the Committee will publish the name of the winner.
