The historical narrative encapsulates the ups and downs of Jim's 50-year journey within the logistics industry. This remarkable story begins in a tiny cubicle in Yokohama, Japan in 1965, and explains how Crown has developed into renowned global business with an annual turnover exceeding 800 million USD. Today, Thompson is keen to pass on the lessons he learned by sharing his story of perseverance and innovation, and at times a bit of luck.
On November 1, Thompson hosted a private signing at The Foreign Correspondents' Club in Hong Kong to present his book to some close partners and government dignitaries. "This is something I wanted to achieve in my life. I'm one of the only Crown people alive when the company started in 1965, I'm still able to remember most of the stories," said Thompson, who made a speech at the event. "I wanted to thank Tammie Rhee, author of "The Story of Crown", who has been working relentlessly with me to put this book together. For the last five years, she has been doing intense research, interviewing a lot of people who work for us, and people who are no longer working for us.
