KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Organised by UBM Malaysia, a UBM Asia company, ASIA WATER Expo & Forum -- widely recognised as The Region's Leading Water Industry Event will take place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, from 19-20 March 2014.

The 2014 event will feature over 700 participating companies from 42 countries which have increased compared to the 682 companies in 2012. It will also have major international pavilions from mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, The United States, Austria, German and India.

In South-East Asia, 4.9 billion cu. m of the water supplied to networks worth US$1.5 billion, is lost each year. The percentage of NRW (Non-Revenue Water) in Kuala Lumpur is 32%, whilst in Bangkok it's 25%. Reducing NRW would generate an extra US$50 million in revenue for each city according to Global Water Intelligence. Therefore, NRW provides an excellent business opportunity for water industry players. Companies such as Mann- Hummel, Pentair, Schneider Electric, Technolog, SEBAKMT and more, will present their latest technology covering NRW and other key areas.

"The Ministry encourages all industry players and professionals to attend ASIA WATER 2014 so as to help conserve the gift of water. We need to ensure that we can continue to deliver sustainable water in the future. Water is life, Energy is wealth And Green Technology is the game changer," said Y.B. Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, J.P.Minister, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water Malaysia (KeTTHA).

"This 8th edition of ASIAWATER underlines how important an element water is to a rapidly developing country like Malaysia. The National Water Services Commission is proud to again play a key role in the improvement of our water supply system, ensuring that it keeps pace with this progress," Said Dato' Ismail Kasim, Chairman, National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

"Without access to clean water, public health suffers from poor hygiene and sanitation; agriculture and industrial activities could also get disrupted. As such, there is an urgent necessity for industry leaders to meet, discuss, share experiences and develop strategies to address this issue," said Mr. Noupheuak Virabouth, President, South-East Asian Water Utilities Network (SEAWUN).
