LONDON, June 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AWC Fine Wine is marking its 25th anniversary with the launch of a rare wine case made from the famous Marie Antoinette Versailles oak.

The limited edition AWC 25th Anniversary Case has been hand crafted from the Palace of Versailles oak tree, reputed to have been a favourite of Marie Antoinette.

The case was designed and made by the craftsmen of Cordier Mestrezat in Bordeaux.  Only one box has been made using the finest materials and this will be shown for the first time in the UK at Masterpiece London.  The Versailles oak tree stood for 320 years outlasting numerous French royals and the French Revolution.  It was finally felled in 2005 after falling victim to drought and its wood acquired by Cordier Mestrezat.

In celebration of its 25 years, AWC has acquired four of the highest rated Bordeaux and Burgundy wines from the company's founding 1990 vintage - Chateau Petrus, Chateau Latour, Chateau d'Yquem and Domaine de la Romanée Conti La Tache.  These extraordinary wines are rarely, if ever, available on the open market and as such this is a true collector's item and ultimate status symbol for fine wine connoisseurs.

The AWC 25th Anniversary Case will be revealed at Masterpiece London, the premier international cross-collecting fair for art, antiques and design.  The fair showcases some of the world's rarest and most sought after collectables presented by a global array of international experts, among them, AWC Fine Wine.

Speaking about the Anniversary Case launch at Masterpiece London, Stephen Williams, AWC's founder, comments: "For the past 25 years our mission has been to share the pleasures of wine through exceptional experiences, tasting and acquiring the very best wines from around the world. The opportunity to acquire the AWC 25th Anniversary Case is in itself rare. Add to this the four extraordinary wines that we have acquired and you truly have a one off opportunity to own a piece of history."

The AWC 25th Anniversary Case has an asking price of £75,000 and will be launched at Masterpiece London, which takes place at the South Grounds, the Royal Hospital Chelsea from 25 June to 1 July (Preview 24 June).

AWC will also be using the event to present its new Legacy Series of large format bottles as well as its new turnkey cellar offering. The one stop solution includes design, installation, wine selection, investment advice as well as a personal wine advisor to manage and curate the client's wine collection.
