First pharmaceutical borosilicate glass manufacturer that uses coal oven gas in China to adopt innovative combustion technology to meet stringent environmental regulations while improving productivity and quality

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., Sept. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Products (NYSE:APD), a leader in oxy-fuel combustion technology and an integrated solution supplier to the global glass industry, recently signed a contract to supply its integrated oxy-fuel solution to Jinxin Glass (hereinafter referred to as "Jinxin") in Jiyuan city, Henan Province, China to help Jinxin reduce emissions and improve productivity and quality in its glass production.

A manufacturer of pharmaceutical borosilicate glass using coal oven gas for local companies and overseas markets including Europe, India, Russia and the U.S., Jinxin had been looking for a new solution to substitute the traditional air-fuel combustion in its glass melting process to meet the local government's emissions regulations. The Jiyuan government has set challenging emission reduction targets to all industries including the glass manufacturing industry.

The integrated oxy-fuel solution includes the supply of Cleanfire® HRi™oxy-fuel burners and PRISM® vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) oxygen generator which will supply reliable and economical oxygen. In addition, Air Products provides furnace commissioning and related on-site consulting services to Jinxin.

Richard Huang, Air Products' Asia industry manager for Glass, remarked, "Air Products is a leader in oxy-fuel combustion technology helping different types of glass manufacturers address increasingly stringent environmental regulations and to improve productivity as well as product quality. We are honored to be selected as the supplier for Jinxin to support its conversion to full oxy-fuel combustion which is a new milestone for the market of pharmaceutical borosilicate glass using coal oven gas.  Our work with Jinxin not only enables us to tap into Henan in Central China for our growth in the glass market, but also underscores our commitment to support the sustainable development of China's glass industry."

Air Products has also recently signed contracts to supply integrated oxy-fuel solutions to other borosilicate and fiberglass manufacturers in the southern and eastern parts of China. For more information, visit http://www.airproducts.com/industries/GlassMinerals/resource-center.aspx.
