The Foundation honors the memory of Ira Sohn, a talented Wall Street professional whose life was cut short when he passed away from cancer at the age of 29. In 1995, Ira's colleagues and friends Douglas Hirsch, Lance Laifer and Daniel Nir, along with Ira's mother Judith Sohn and brother Evan, created the Ira Sohn Research Conference, now called The Sohn Investment Conference. The organization has evolved into The Sohn Conference Foundation. It is a leading funder in pediatric cancer research and care, having raised more than US$60 million.

About the Karen Leung Foundation:
The Karen Leung Foundation ("KLF") is a non-profit charitable organization in Hong Kong (Registered Charity No. 91/13069) created by Karen's loved ones to honor her life and fulfil her hopes for a better future for women, free from gynecological cancer.
Karen was 34 years old, newly engaged to be married, and had a promising career as an equity and derivative trader at Oasis Hong Kong, when she was diagnosed with metastatic cervical cancer in November 2011 after experiencing symptoms of back pain and fatigue. The diagnosis was shocking and she fought courageously for nearly a year before passing away in October 2012, at 35 years old. In the days before she died, Karen expressed her wish to raise awareness among Hong Kong women and girls about gynecological cancer to ensure that others have the information and resources to prevent cancer and access to the best medical care, if needed.
Karen Leung Foundation's mission is to save lives by reducing the impact of gynecological cancer. The Karen Leung Foundation works to raise awareness about gynecological cancers, educate the local community to promote prevention and early detection, and ensure that women in treatment have access to optimal medical care. To achieve our objectives, the Karen Leung Foundation collaborates with the local and international medical community, as well as other NGO's committed to improving women's health.
