Dowdell Appointed to Lead Corning Cable Systems in China

SHANGHAI, CHINA, Feb. 13 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Corning China announced on February 1 that Alan Dowdell has been appointed president, Corning Cable Systems, Greater China. In this role, Dowdell is responsible for overall business, organizational and financial management for Corning Cable Systems Greater China operations and employees in wholly owned and joint venture entities. Responsibilities include the Optical Cable and the Hardware & Equipment businesses in the Public Networks, Private Networks and OEM markets in the region.

Prior to this assignment, Dowdell was director, Strategy and Business Development, in the Greater China region while leading Corning International Sales team and coordinating Science & Technology activities and initiatives in PRC. Since joining Corning in 1996, Dowdell has also held roles in Marketing, Product Line Management, Strategic Growth and Manufacturing.

He holds a BSEE from the Louisiana Tech University, and MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
