The conferees from more than 30 different countries are mainly
professionals and executives working in the fields of HIV/AIDS diagnosis,
therapy, drug design, pharmaceutical industry, policy and regulation, and
venture capital companies. All of them are participating in order to look
for potential opportunities for future partnerships in research, development,
technology and transfer.
Being aware that Dr. Hershline’s laboratory has discovered compounds as
potential antiviral agents specifically for HIV/AIDS treatment, the Chinese
believe that Dr. Roger Hershline’s speech at the conference will be of
highest interest to all other parties participating in the event and
especially so to Chinese officers and researchers.
China plans to make great efforts to restrict the rapid epidemic spread
of HIV/AIDS across their country, to no more than 1.5 million HIV/AIDS cases
by the end of 2010. Currently, China has listed HIV/AIDS prevention and
control research as key State scientific research projects to explore
efficient treatment for AIDS.
The Chinese Government believes Dr. Hershline’s fruitful research will
be attractive and impressive to his worldwide colleagues. They have planned
meetings for him with governmental and organizational officers who will
introduce their domestic policies for importing antiretroviral agents and
other opportunities for building cooperation partnerships.
