HONG KONG, June 29 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- EMBA-Global Asia proudly presents the second cohort of its unique executive MBA programme. Building upon last year’s successful launch of the programme, the 2010 class witnessed a 16% growth in participants, and has seen a significant increase in those with company sponsorship.

This increase in both student numbers and the proportion of students that are supported by their employer, demonstrates the programme’s growing reputation amongst senior business executives and organizations within the region, and illustrates the recognisable value of top-ranked executive education during these times of economic recovery.

The second class enrolled 37 executives representing 16 nationalities, with one third of them living in Hong Kong, one third from elsewhere in Asia, and the remaining third residing in the rest of the world -- including the USA, Spain, Belgium, France and Brazil.

Mike Hall, Programme Director, the University of Hong Kong says, "I am hugely impressed with the calibre of the incoming cohort. They represent the top executives from a wide spread of industries and this echoes the vision of the EMBA-Global Asia programme -- leveraging the value of the work experience that a diverse class brings."

Anne Sandford, Programme Director, London Business School, points out, "Despite the recent global financial crisis, companies realise that executive-level education is not only essential to the strength and growth of firms, but is an invaluable retention tool for their best performers and top talent. They have to retain and re-train and this programme, from three of the world’s leading business schools, represents a truly wise investment."

The alliance of Columbia Business School, London Business School and the University of Hong Kong brings credibility to the students’ international experience across industries. The capability to manage and lead by utilizing academically learned knowledge helps sharpen their competitive edge during the difficult market situation.

Declan McCarroll, Director, Partnership Programs at Columbia Business School, points out, "I am very excited by the strong support for the second cohort. The financial crisis has forced candidates to reinvent themselves, making them more well-rounded and employable than they might otherwise have been in a healthy economy with a more certain job market awaiting them at the end of the tunnel."

EMBA-Global Asia commenced in 2009 as an Asian expansion of the top-ranked EMBA-Global. It is the first programme to offer learning and networking opportunities across three cities that drive global business: Hong Kong, New York and London. EMBA-Global Asia is an intensive, 20-month programme. On completion, students will receive a joint MBA degree awarded by Columbia University, London Business School and The University of Hong Kong.
