Forum Features Prominent Players in the Content and Network Industries Such As TV Bank, Limelight Networks and Sophia Research Institute

TOKYO, Japan, July 24 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced that it is hosting the company's Asia Pacific Peering Forum, Tokyo with BBIX. This is the second year both companies are hosting the forum together. The forum will feature informative sessions on topics ranging from content distribution to network fibers in Japan and internationally. The Tokyo Peering Forum will take place at Ritz Carlton Tokyo on 25th July, 2007.

The accelerating growth of high-bandwidth fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services and increasing demand for online and mobile content has turned Japan into an epicenter of broadband traffic. The infusion of large video traffic means that content providers must come up with more innovative delivery methods and ISPs need to scale their networks to accommodate this growth in a cost effective manner. This is especially a concern for the growing international traffic across the Pacific and within Asia. This forum presents opportunities for industry players to discuss future interconnection strategies.

This year's Peering Forum will feature a keynote address from William Norton, Chief Technical Liaison of Equinix. Norton's presentation, "Video Internet Revisited," will highlight the acceleration of the Video Internet movement.

Leading content delivery network (CDN) providers across the globe such as Limelight Networks will share their networking strategies while network providers such as VSNL will discuss the impact of natural disasters such as the Taiwan earthquake last December on their networks. In addition, speakers from Japan, include TV Bank who will discuss their highly innovative P2P Video Streaming solution, as well as the academic speech "Next Generation Networks (NGN): An Internet Perspective" by Hiroshi Esaki, Ph.D, Professor at the University of Tokyo.

Peering is a key element of the Internet infrastructure which allows network service providers, content companies and content distributors to directly connect to each other and eliminate intermediate network backbones. This streamlined connectivity enhances performance, reliability and reduces transit costs.

The Tokyo Peering Forum will be chaired by Ikuo Nakagawa from Intec NetCore Inc. and scheduled speakers include William Norton, Chief Technical Liaison of Equinix, Asia Netcom's Raphael Ho, Limelight Networks' Denver Maddux, Atsunori Murata of Sophia Research Institute, Hiroshi Kawahara from TV Bank Corp., Hiroshi Esaki from University of Tokyo, and Sylvie LaPerriere of VSNL International.

In addition to the technical presentations, there will also be a networking session designed to facilitate the development of critical peering business relationships among attendees.
