SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the industrial communication solutions market, Frost & Sullivan presented Moxa with the 2014 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Leadership yesterday at Moxa's Global Distributor Summit at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, Calif.

The award recognizes Moxa for being a holistic industrial networking solution provider with a complete range of industrial networking, monitoring, and computing products that are engineered for the harsh environments of the oil and gas industry. Every product from Moxa offers reliability and safety, and delivers lasting business value through ease of integration during the initial stages and ease of use during the entire life cycle.

The analysis by Frost & Sullivan found that Moxa's products are flexible enough to allow end users to integrate unique or standard industrial control systems such as supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and Internet protocol (IP) devices. Its Turbo Chain redundancy and millisecond recovery capabilities ensure that communications systems are always available and respond in real time.

In addition, the company stands out from the competition for providing a variety of interface solutions such as fiber, copper, wireless and serial, which interface well with bandwidth options from 10/100 Mbps to 10 Gbps. Moxa's products are also compatible with several security standards, including 802.1X, HTTPS, and Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

"Moxa also continues to improve product performance through innovative solutions, which, in turn, allows it to adopt a customer-centric approach to product life cycle management," said Frost & Sullivan Senior Industry Analyst Naveen Kumar Ramasamy. "Furthermore, its focus on improving product performance for a wider range of applications helps it deliver lower total cost of ownership."

Krishna Srinivasan, global president and managing partner at Frost & Sullivan, was on hand to present the Customer Value Leadership Award at Moxa's Global Distributor Summit. The summit is conducted by Moxa every three years to share its vision for the industry with its top distributors from around the world. In this year's summit, Moxa embraced a future of "Enabling the Industrial Internet of Things" and re-emphasized the company's culture of customer focus and service.

"On behalf of Moxa Inc., it is a great honor to receive the prestigious Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Leadership Award for Industrial Communications Solutions," said John Yelland, vice president of Global Marketing for Moxa. "We strive to work harder and smarter to enable Industrial Internet solutions for our partners. We are gratified to be recognized for our commitment to reliable networks and sincere service."

As part of a companywide focus on converged automation networks, Moxa created a set of interoperable products that optimize performance in legacy network and automation solutions. This enables customers to achieve a reliable and fully converged Ethernet network that enhances the performance of existing installations during modernization.

This interoperability feature is an important advantage because in the upstream oil and gas industry, there are several legacy systems that are highly independent and have limited connectivity to other systems. This makes it difficult for them to achieve totally integrated digital oil operations (TIDOs), especially when there are additional safety and reliability features. With the industry gravitating toward integrated operations, Moxa's reliable edge-to-core automation network solutions appear best suited for TIDOs.

"Moxa's strong emphasis on superior customer experience has had an impact on its ecosystem of distribution and service networks," observes Naveen. "Even though the industrial communications solutions market is more product- and technology-focused, Moxa drives excellence in every area of customer experience. Its service excellence covers all stages of the product lifecycle, from identifying requirements to the delivery phase of the project."

The company's willingness to work closely with customers gives it actionable insights into the niche requirements of oil and gas customers. For instance, it provides conformal coating services for electronic products to protect against moisture, contaminants and corrosion, and to resist extreme temperatures, vibration, salt spray and chemical vapors, ensuring a longer life cycle.

Moxa sets the standard in commitment to customers, quality and staff, which translates directly to frontline performance excellence. It continually improves its employee expertise in technologies and market understanding, which eventually enhances customer loyalty. Unlike competitors, Moxa has expanded its solutions in areas such as remote automation and serial connectivity solutions, giving it an edge as the industry adopts Internet of Things (IoT).

This year, Moxa launched the all-in-one MXstudio suite, an expansion to Moxa's user-friendly network management software for industrial automation users. In addition to smart network visualization, MXstudio integrates powerful mass device configuration and troubleshooting tools, vastly reducing deployment time and effort. Development of MXstudio was based on user pain points that were revealed in the course of Moxa's close collaboration with its partners.

"Moxa has uniquely positioned its brand through reliable products and service commitment," noted Naveen. "Its vision and organization culture with a focus on customer needs is strongly reflected in its market approaches and customer success stories."

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively create value for its customers with a focus on improving the return on the investment that customers make in its services or products. The award recognizes the company's inordinate focus on enhancing the value that its customers receive, beyond simply good customer service, leading to improved customer retention and, ultimately, customer base expansion.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
