Yu joins China President Hu Jintao's delegation to the U.S. serving to strengthen communication between U.S. and Chinese business leaders

BEIJING, Jan. 21, 2011 -- General Steel Holdings, Inc. ("General Steel" or the "Company") (NYSE: GSI), one of China's leading non-state-owned producers of steel products and aggregators of domestic steel companies, today announced that its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Henry Yu participated in the U.S.-China Business Dialogue CEO Breakfast hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. yesterday.

At the event, Mr. Yu was one of two speakers in a dialogue-style forum who spoke on the topic, The Future of US-China Investment Ties.

"It was an honor to accompany President Hu on his state visit to the United States this past week," said Mr. Yu. "The Chinese government has reiterated the importance of China's domestic steel industry as the country undergoes an unprecedented industrial transformation. As a U.S.-listed company, we have a wealth of experience dealing with western investors as well as a strong understanding of China's business culture and practice. I believe that strengthening communication and ties with U.S. business leaders will result in mutually beneficial business opportunities for both of our countries."

The U.S.-China Business Dialogue was established in 2003 through the partnership of the China Chamber of International Commerce and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the dialogue is to serve as a platform for mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of trade, finance and investment between the two countries.
