IBSS Builds Closer Ties with Leading International Chartered Accountancy Body

SUZHOU, China, April 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), met on Thursday 27th March to develop the details of a new MSc Professional Accounting Programme.

The visiting delegation, led by ICAEW Chief Executive Mr. Michael Izza, together with Mr. James Lee, ICAEW Regional Director, Greater China, met with XJTLU senior management including Professor Youmin Xi, XJTLU Executive President, and Professor Sarah Dixon, dean of International Business School Suzhou.

Scheduled for launch in September, the MSc Professional Accounting at IBSS complements an exciting range of Postgraduate courses already on offer from IBSS at XJTLU.

Explaining how this course differs from the others at IBSS, Professor Dixon, said that "this degree is very practically focused and there is a lot of business engagement, supported by a global leader within the accountancy profession, ICAEW, who give us contacts with many different companies and organisations. So it is a great way to prepare our students for employment."

Speaking of their recent involvement with IBSS, Mr. Izza explained that it is "an important development for ICAEW, taking our relationship with the business school to an exciting, new level."

Students joining the MSc Professional Accounting programme not only benefit from ICAEW's expertise but also through collaboration with a sister programme based in London. Both engagements provide students the necessary academic credentials and 'soft-skill' qualities which ensure they are highly competitive in the job market and that their careers, once secured, are long and productive.
