Intermodal China 2013 - Shippers' Summit Successfully Held in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Intermodal China 2013 - Shippers' Summit was held successfully from September 24 to 25 in Shanghai, China. Hongkou District People's Government, Shanghai Municipality pays high attention to this event. District Mayor Mr. Cao Liqiang and Mr. Zhang Xiping attended and delivered opening speech.

The conference was delivered in the forms of keynote speech, panel discussion, case study and summit dialogue, focusing on markets of China, Russia, CIS, Central & South America, Africa. Mr. Guo Xiaobei, Institute Director, Institute of Comprehensive Transportation of National Development and Reform Commission pointed out that the development of China’s intermodal transport aims at the realization of transportation transformation and the adjustment of industrial structure. With the reform of China's railway, we can expect the rise of railway transport capacity and the development of China’s railway transportation.

Mr. Chen Bo, Deputy Director of Free Trade Zone Research Center disclosed in his speech that in 2013 no more free trade zones will come out. The open of other free trade zones depends on the operation of Shanghai Free Trade Zone. According to Mr. Chen, the highest possibility is on Tianjin Binhai Free Trade Zone and Guangdong Free Trade Zone. He also pointed out that China is endeavoured to join Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), therefore joining TPP is on the agenda.
