Offers Tips to Success in Market

BEIJING, Nov. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The global law firm Jones Day announced today that partner Jingzhou Tao has co-authored a book entitled Mergers & Acquisitions in China. The book is the second edition of previous volume and is geared towards international companies interested in doing business in China.  It explains key issues and pitfalls arising from merger and acquisition transactions and provides an understanding of what actions need to be taken prior to a deal, in addition to the possible outcomes of those actions.

"This book is extremely timely as Chinese M&A has been active in 2010, with both inbound and outbound activity reaching close to $140 million by the end of October," said Owen Nee, co-author of the book and Of Counsel at Jones Day in New York.  "As China's economy continues to grow and drive global M&A deals, multinational corporations are looking for more insight into this market and this book provides that."

Merger and acquisitions deal volumes increased by 26% in the first half of the year, compared to a three-year low in the first half of 2009, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers.  The book is in English and includes information on the Chinese-language names of applicable laws and regulations.

"I have been working in the M&A sector for more than 20 years and see 2010 as a real turning point for China activity, with more deals in the automobile industry, equipment manufacturing and healthcare," said Jingzhou Tao.  "More foreign investors are coming to China at levels not seen since before the financial crisis and they should understand this market."

Published by Thomson West, the book is available on Amazon.com.
