Jungheinrich Optimizes Ergonomics in Larger Fork Lift Trucks

SHANGHAI, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The Jungheinrich electric fork lift series 4 and 5 received a facelift in autumn 2009. A large part of this optimization involves the areas of ergonomics.

As part of the facelift, the Jungheinrich electric forklift models in the ranges EFG 425-430 and EFG 535-550 will be fitted with further ergonomic features. "With this move we will lift the ergonomics of these two lines to that of the series 2 and 3 presented at CeMAT 2008," said Stefan Pfetsch, Head of Product Management and Marketing Electric Counterbalance Trucks at Jungheinrich.

The most notable optimization is the integration, as standard, of a completely new operating concept throughout the series using a choice of either the SOLO-PILOT or MULTI-PILOT, integrated into a vertically and horizontally adjustable armrest. The SOLO-PILOT is unique with one finger control levers to operate the hydraulic functions, control the direction of travel and sound the acoustic signaling. With the MULTI-PILOT, all these functions are integrated into a joystick. A large storage compartment ensures a better field of view and order in the cabin.

Three Phase AC Technology: Lower Operational Costs in Daily Application

The range of modified trucks from Jungheinrich includes the electric four wheel forklift with a lift/transport load capacity up to 3,000 kilogrammes (EFG 425-430) and 5,000 kilogrammes (EFG 535-550). The use of Jungheinrich three phase AC technology allows advanced speed and maneuvering in the workplace as well as a notable increase in operating/shift durations from one battery charge. Stefan Pfetsch stated: "These attributes work together with reduced maintenance requirements and lower operational costs to produce high efficiency in daily application of the truck." Stefan Pfetsch showed further, that the travel and lift speeds together with acceleration and increased efficiency make these electric trucks comparable with Diesel and LPG trucks in respect to throughput. With the encapsulated Jungheinrich motors, these trucks are suitable for combined inside and outside applications.

Curve Control: Steering Angle Dependent Reduction of Speed

Additional features compliment the ergonomic improvements of the trucks to ensure the operator of these electric counterbalance trucks feels all-round safer. Included as standard is the steering angle dependent speed reduction system (Curve Control) as well as the travel speed display. The advanced wear-free braking system with regenerative charging ensures the highest safety and energy efficiency.

A special feature to note is the automatic parking brake that intelligently monitors the workplace characteristics. If the operator has to leave quickly the operator's position, or upon a ramp in the event of possible rollback, the parking brake automatically secures the truck using the fixed brake system.
