Li Tong Appointed as the National Recycler for End-of-life Mobile Phones in China

HONG KONG, September 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Li Tong (Jiangmen) Enviro Tech Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Li Tong Group - a global leading e-waste recycler headquartered in Hong Kong, is appointed by China Electronics Enterprises Association (CEEA), as the sole official recycler to recycle and recover the end-of-life mobile phones nationwide.

Designated as the pilot company for the Comprehensive Use of Used Mobile Phones Scheme endorsed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and CEEA, Li Tong (Jiangmen) is to develop, implement and manage an efficient reverse supply chain to recycle discarded handsets in China. The scheme is part of its strategy to update the current reverse supply chain infrastructure, tackle the mounting problem of mobile phone waste, and to achieve the recycling target at 95% by 2015 under the PRC's twelfth 5-year-plan.

Li Tong's plant in Jiangmen will be the base of treatment in this scheme. Spanning at 20,000 sqm of space and housing the most advanced waste-processing technologies, the plant will be able to handle 30,000 tonnes of e-waste annually and is designed to the highest environmental, health and safety (EHS) standards.

Capitalizing on decade's long expertise in e-waste recycling and reverse supply chain management, as well as known reputation on intellectual properties protection and world-class EHS standards, Li Tong will provide an all facets green and eco-friendly solutions to properly reuse, recycle and recover the value of waste handsets through waste collection, data wiping, value sorting, components harvest, disassembling, shredding and recycling. The company will provide an end-to-end solution from its specialist downstream partners such as the largest petrochemical company which provides the closed-loop manufacturing solution on plastic materials, as well as qualified processors to further process and refine batteries, screens, ferrous, precious metals, etc.

Using the information management approach in the reverse supply chain is the key of the entire project. Li Tong will use its proprietary RSCM ERP platform to capture the data and track all materials flow throughout the supply chain from collection till it is being used as a new product.

The pilot scheme will be first rolled out in Shenzhen, Guangdong and Beijing, then will be extend to other regions across China.
