POSCO E&C Donates Daily Necessities to Laos

Items worth US$81,000 were donated, including blankets and running shoes in January

SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Posco Engineering & Construction (Vice Chairman: Jeong Dong-hwa) donated over 6,500 pieces of daily necessities, including blankets and running shoes, to the county of Phone Hong, north of Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, on the 7th of this month.

Phone Hong marks the location of the site of the Nam Lik hydropower plant, POSCO E&C's first overseas project. Launched in December 2012, the project is making good progress.

As part of its commitment to helping people in need overseas, POSCO E&C has worked with the Hope Bridge -- Korea Disaster Relief Association since 2011, to donate the equivalent of four full containers of items (20,000 pieces in total and with a value of US$146,000) to those in Vietnam, Chile, Peru and Laos.

In addition to the activities it undertakes within Korea to fulfill its social responsibility, POSCO E&C is committed to a wide range of social contributions in such countries as Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Brazil, and Ecuador, including helping with medical assistance and Korean cultural events.
