CHENGDU, China, July 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 19, 2013, the Chairman of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT), Dr. Marilyn Moffat, awarded the certificate of International Course Grade I Certification for the Physical Therapy Course, also the first WCPT certificate in China, to Mr. He Hongchen, the director of teaching of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, at the China National Convention Center in Beijing
Since the submission of applications for Physical Therapy Course certification in April 2011, the WCPT committee members made multiple visits to the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, West China Hospital and carried out strict examinations of all 230 course items. After more than two years, the course finally gained WCPT certification, another distinct honor after the award of international certification to the prosthetic and orthopedic course of this department. Furthermore, the occupational therapy course of this department is currently under the review of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists for their certification. Should this certificate be acquired, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine will be the only department in Sichuan University or even in China whose courses have all obtained international certifications. This will be a milestone in the development history of Rehabilitation Medicine in West China Hospital and will promote the all-round development of Rehabilitation Medicine in China.
