RICS Opens New Office in Guangzhou

HONG KONG, Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is pleased to announce the new office opening in Guangzhou today, which symbolizes further expansion of the organisation's network to cover larger part of China.

China has been a very important market for RICS with the rapidly growing real estate market amid increasing government expenditure on infrastructure and foreign direct investment. RICS first built its presence in China with the setup of the Shanghai office in 2004. Over the past five years, RICS has opened its Beijing office to cover for members in the region, and then the Chongqing office to cover the Southwestern region. Now with the Guangzhou office put into operation, members in the Pearl River Delta can be further benefited with the services and support provided by RICS.

RICS Guangzhou Office is strategically located near the East Train Station with an aim to facilitate RICS members in the region who are regular travelers between Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Robert Peto, President of RICS, said, "In RICS, we see China as a long-term strategic market and it is our priority to continue to invest in this part of the world where the real estate market is booming, and it is our belief that the RICS qualification will add value to China's upcoming 5-year plan."

Henry Li, Chairman of RICS China, commented, "I am very pleased to announce the opening of RICS Guangzhou Office in the Pearl River Delta in response to the request by members who have been asking for this to happen.  We will continue to work with local institutes and professional bodies in offering service not only to members, but also to the real estate industry."

The opening ceremony was held today at the Guangzhou Jian Guo hotel with over 50 members, government officials, representatives from professional bodies and media.
