RICS Signed Memorandum of Co-Operation with JAREA

HONG KONG, Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) signed a Memorandum of Co-operation (MoC) with the Japan Association of Real Estate Appraisers (JAREA). The two leading professional bodies agreed to act in the public interest by building confidence and trust in their respective memberships, and fostering co-operation between the two bodies. This MoC agreement between RICS and JAREA symbolises the commitment of both organisations in promoting and developing property professionals in Japan.

The memorandum marks the beginning of a long term relationship between RICS and JAREA, through effective and regular joint promotion of professional knowledge and training. The agreement will provide pathways for membership and services through mutual recognition.

RICS President, Alan Collett said, "I am delighted that RICS is forming a closer relationship with JAREA, an organisation with a long history in public services in Japan.  RICS sees JAREA as a long-term strategic partner.  By signing the MoC, the strengthened relationship will allow us to move to the next level in our development of education and professional standards in Japan."

Under the agreement, the two bodies will support and organise professional events and also work together to share and contribute information on industry guidance notes and research, as well as organizing study tours abroad.

Ms. Maekawa, Keiko, Chairperson, the International Relations Committee of JAREA, said, "I am delighted to be here today to sign this Memorandum of Cooperation between the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Japan Association of Real Estate Appraisal. In my role as Chairperson of the International Relations Committee of the JAREA, I will promote to our members the benefits of having an RICS' membership, and will encourage them to join and become its individual members.  In the future, I would like to promote exchange of views between our respective organisations and will endeavour to work together to develop expertise in the real estate valuation business."

Japan Association of Real Estate Appraisers (JAREA) is the only government recognised organisation of real property appraisers who have passed the national exam by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (One of Japanese Government Ministries).
