Around the same time last year, approximately 500 volunteers from RSA operations in eight countries took part, contributing almost 2,000 hours of time.

"Following the success of the first Volunteer Week, we are looking forward to giving something back to the community we live in. During the week, RSA employees will have the opportunity to be engaged in a range of activities and make a hands-on contribution to worthy causes," said Phil Bulgin, CEO Hong Kong.

A wide variety of activities have been planned across the Asia & Middle East region that include partnering with environmental groups to plant trees, visiting elderly homes and treating under-privileged children to a day out.

In Hong Kong, RSA volunteers have spent a day out of office with students from mainstream and special schools to visit the Holiday Farm in Sheung Shui. This programme is jointly organised with TREATS, a registered charitable body which is focused on providing opportunities to integrate children of all abilities and backgrounds.

Throughout the week, RSA Hong Kong will also hold a "green" movie show and promote the importance of environmental protection, as well as participate in the Stonecutters Bridge Walk for Millions to raise funds for children and youth services.

"Our activities focus on three key themes: the environment and climate change, safety and social inclusion. We chose these because they relate to our core business activities and are important to both our employees and customers right across the Group," said Scott Pickering, CEO for Asia and the Middle East.

Since 2001, RSA Hong Kong has received the Caring Company recognition from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for seven consecutive years in appreciation for its commitment in corporate responsibility.
