TIANJIN, China, Jan. 5 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) is the site of a recently-opened state-of-the-art seawater desalination demonstration project. The daily output capacity exceeds 10,000 tons and the fresh water produced is up to the standard of purified water.

The project was initiated in 2002 with a total investment of RMB160 million and a planned daily output capacity of 20,000 tons. Using state-of-the-art, low-temperature desalination technologies to minimize salt levels in the desalted water to 5 parts per million (TDS<5ppm), the project will serve the needs of both high-end industrial and landscape purposes.
About Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA)
Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) was established in 1984 with the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is one of the first state-class economic-technological development areas in the country.
TEDA is located in the center of a larger area bordering the Bohai Sea and the east of the Asia-Europe Land Bridge, thus serving as the gateway to the two super cities of Beijing and Tianjin, and as a passage to the northeast of China.
