SourceCode’s K2.net(R) ‘BlackPearl’ to Empower Both Business and Technical People to Build and Deploy Process Driven Applications

REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 8 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- SourceCode Technology Holdings, Inc. (SourceCode), the creator of the K2.net(R) Enterprise Workflow Platform, today announced that the new version of K2.net, codenamed "BlackPearl", will provide multiple design environments to ensure that both business and technical people can work together to build process driven applications.

Designing and building process driven applications is complex. Often complexity is magnified as business requirements must be interpreted and codified by software developers who may not fully understand the intent of the requirements and may be caught between competing priorities and large volumes of work. It all takes too long. The risks are too high. Solutions are not responsive enough to changing business needs.

K2.net "BlackPearl" will provide business people with tools to design, build, deploy and change applications themselves. These drag-and-drop tools are surfaced through applications already familiar to most business people including a browser-based interface, within Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Visio 2007 and options for integrated third party design canvases.

Technologists will be able to collaborate with the business by extending solutions through customization as necessary to support complex requirements or provide a base set of processes, functions, and objects that can be shared across applications. K2.net "BlackPearl" includes the "BlackPearl Designer" -- a design and build environment fully embedded within Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Process driven applications created by business people can be accessed, customized and redeployed. The designer will allow for design in views that include visual process, swimlane diagram, role based, and documentation representations.

A first beta release of K2.net "BlackPearl" has been made available to a limited group of customers and partners. Additional capabilities will be announced throughout the beta term until official product release.
