TCL Communication Announces Shipment Figures of Handsets and Other Products for August

HONG KONG, Sept. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company" which, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, is referred to as the "Group"; HKSE stock code: 2618) today announced the unaudited figures for shipments of handsets and other products in August and the first eight months of 2015.

The Group's total sales volume of handsets and other products increased by 6% year-on-year to 6,630,000 units in August 2015. Sales volume of handsets and other products in overseas markets increased by 4% year-on-year to 5,883,000 units, while shipments in China market totaled 747,000 units, up by 24% year-on-year. Sales volume of smart devices increased by 9% year-on-year to 3,924,000 units, and accounted for 59% of the Group's total shipment for the month. For the first eight months of 2015, the cumulative sales volume of handsets and other products amounted to 50,282,000 units, representing an increase of 20% year-on-year, while the cumulative sales volume of smart devices reached 29,161,000 units, representing a 34% year-on-year growth.

One of the world's leading trade show for consumer electronics, IFA Berlin kicked off on 4 September, 2015. During the event, the Group introduced two new products under its brand-new, dynamic GO family, comprising of the IP67 shockproof, waterproof and dustproof -- GO PLAY handset and GO WATCH. GO PLAY even enables users to take pictures underwater. GO WATCH is Android and iOS compatible; it detects the users' heart rate and mobile data and allows users to instantly share their unique emotion pulse on social networks or even set it as the wallpaper of their GO WATCH. The new genre-busting smart device -- Xess was also launched at IFA Berlin 2015. It has an extra-large 17.3-inch touchscreen, with adjustable built-in stand and handle to support multi-usage. At the same time, the Group unveiled its new smartphone -- POP STAR at the show. The 5-inch, HD IPS display POP STAR is the most fashion-forward smartphone with a large collection of back covers, consumers can purchase and change the back cover they like and fully express their own style.

The Group's flagship handset IDOL 3 was released in China and Japan in August. In China, Suning.com was the first launch partner; while it is sold through local stores and handset sales agencies in Japan. From its launch, to the four important accreditations received at MWC 2015, IDOL 3 has been well-recognised by users around the world. Its venture into the Chinese and Japanese markets has further strengthened the Group's market position and laid a solid foundation in the mid-market.

Following the cooperation agreement with Toronto FC in June, ALCATEL ONETOUCH has become the official smartphone and tablet partner of LA Galaxy. ALCATEL ONETOUCH and LA Galaxy will cooperate in soccer matches, fan engagement events, digital promotions and advertising campaigns, etc. After the implementation of this agreement, ALCATEL ONETOUCH's brand influence will be greatly enhanced in the North American market.
