TCL Communication's Handsets and Other Product Shipments Continued to Grow in November 2011

R&D Capabilities Further Reinforced with Three New Facebook Phones Exclusively Manufactured for French Telecom - Orange

HONG KONG, Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company", together with its subsidiaries referred to as the "Group"; HKSE stock code: 02618) today announced the unaudited shipment figures for its handsets and other products in November and the first eleven months of 2011.

In November 2011, the Group's handsets and other products sales totaled 4,637,932 units, which included sales of smartphones, accounting for 242,617 units. Meanwhile, 3,968,360 units were sold in overseas markets, which decreased slightly compared to last year, and 669,572 units were sold in the PRC, representing a year-on-year increase of 519%. For the first eleven months of 2011, the cumulative sales volume of handsets and other products rose 22% year-on-year to 39,148,679 units, with 35,185,350 units were sold in overseas markets, representing an increase of 18%, and 3,963,329 units were sold to China market, representing an increase of 95%.

In view of the increasing popularity of handsets that carry social networking functions, the Group continued to launch more Facebook phones to strengthen its brand reputation and expand its market share. In November 2011, French Telecom - Orange, one of the world's leading telecommunications operators, announced that it would launch three new phones featuring full Facebook integration, all in TCL Communication's ALCATEL ONE TOUCH brand. The new range of handsets includes the ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 908F Android smartphone, and they are set to be launched across Africa and Europe from fourth quarter of 2011. Exclusively manufactured by the Group, the new phones will be offered at a competitive price and will showcase innovative and unprecedented designs. The dedicated 'F' key on the phones allows instant interaction and the convenient uploading of information onto Facebook accounts, thereby providing a swift and an enhanced social networking experience. These Facebook phones are all of the Group's outstanding products, coming on the heels of the Vodafone 555 Blue exclusively manufactured for Vodafone. The phones came into the spotlight at the "2011 GSM Mobile Asia Congress" held in Hong Kong in November.

With the unique and innovative Facebook function, the ALCATEL ONE TOUCH phones are expected to be well-received in the market and will thereby give a further boost to the Group's sales and revenue growth. The Group will continue to step up its efforts in product-mix optimization and the development of higher-margin smartphones with advanced features, so as to drive growth in overall sales as well as in average selling price.

To further enhance the competitiveness of its products, the Group continued to reinforce its product development capability. From 22 November to 26 November, over one hundred experts from both China and overseas attended "The 3rd Shenzhen Biennial International Conference on Advanced Science and Technology" to discuss the technological development of the Terahertz ("THz"). The THz is an electromagnetic wave with a frequency between 0.1~10THz and is the only electromagnetic spectrum that has yet to be studied comprehensively and to be fully utilized. The THz is expected to form the foundation of the sixth or seventh generation of communications technology. As one of the co-organizers of the conference, the Group will work with the experts and scholars to develop THz technology so as to advance the development of the telecommunications industry. Following the launch of the Xiangyun A919 smartphone in October, the Group's participation in the development of THz technology will bring its smartphones to the forefront of mobile communications technology.
