The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries Appoints Senior Director & Head of Technical and Research

HONG KONG, Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) has appointed Mr Mohan Datwani FCIS FCS(PE), a Fellow of HKICS, to the new position of Senior Director & Head of Technical and Research. Mr Datwani was prior thereto Director, Technical and Research of HKICS as from 1 February 2012.

Mr Datwani's promotion followed a strategic review led by Dr Maurice Ngai FCIS FCS(PE) President, and Samantha Suen FCIS FCS(PE) Chief Executive of HKICS, for Mr Datwani to assume a greater leadership role in HKICS's professional development efforts including issuing technical research reports and guidelines, liaising with government departments and regulators on consultations, submissions and lobbying for appropriate regulatory changes, as well as designing continuing professional development trainings for HKICS members, senior management and directors.

Mr Datwani, an experienced solicitor, was partner of a US international law firm with advisory, transactional and litigation experiences in a broad range of areas, including banking and finance, energy, real estate, insolvency and fraud recovery.  He also has applied his legal and compliance knowledge as general counsel and senior management of listed companies.  After a sabbatical to complete his MBA which he obtained with distinction, he joined HKICS in February 2012 to contribute applied legal and compliance, and governance practices to Chartered Secretaries and the community, including through various Government appointments.
