The RICS Asia Magazine Re-Launches with a New Name -- MODUS

HONG KONG, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) has re-launched its Asia edition magazine for members in Asia. The new look magazine -- its name taken from our motto est modus in rebus (there is measure in all things) -- will build on the success of RICS Business Asia, bringing readers the latest news and views, expert advice and in-depth features spanning the breadth of the surveying profession around the world.

In this inaugural issue, RICS MODUS has focused on Brazil who will pay host to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. We look at the challenge this country is facing in hosting world class international sporting events.

Mr Ong See Lian, President-Elect for 2010 - 2011 of RICS and Chairman of RICS Asia said,

"We know that the Hong Kong SAR Government is considering to bid for the 2023 Asian Games.  Hopefully, this special report will be food for thoughts for the government in planning for a successful sporting event from not only an economic point of view, but also from a sustainable development perspective."

There is also a special report on an ambitious social housing project in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, whereby residents would receive as much as half the cost of their new homes.

Mr David Tse, RICS Governing Councillor and Chairman of the RICS (HK) Housing Task Force said,

"The topic of affordable housing is always one of RICS' top agenda, and we look to draw reference from cities from around the world to come up with a long-term and sustainable housing strategy for Hong Kong."

The RICS MODUS Asia edition, which will be re-launched as a quarterly publication, will bring in local articles matching the needs of industry professionals across the region as well as news and events that are relevant to the local markets. It will support and enhance RICS' reputation as the pre-eminent professional body for surveying.  Through a combination of thought leadership content and practical advice, MODUS will help stimulate and shape the debate in this sector.  Members of the RICS Asia will have the luxury of having a local edition with a portion of the content dedicated to the Asian markets. The first electronic version of MODUS Asia edition arrives on 20th October 2010.
