Now ATEX Certified For Explosive Environments

MELBOURNE, Australia, June 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Getac Technology Corporation, designer and manufacturer of rugged technology, is launching the world's first rugged Android tablet with explosive protection. The 7" Getac Z710 now comes with ATEX (Explosive Atmosphere) Zone 2/22 certification, meaning it can be used in hazardous and explosive environments.

The rugged tablet is ideal for field workers in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mining, oil and gas industries, where ATEX compliance is often mandatory when carrying out inspection and maintenance work, and emergency notification.

"Getac is the sole rugged computing manufacturer with a dedicated focus on providing Android tablets for hazardous environments," says Frank Bryan, Getac Country Manager at Synnex Australia. "The Android platform also offers users a cost-effective, open source alternative to other operating systems (OS). The advanced OS, combined with ATEX certification, make the Z710-Ex the ideal solution for field deployment in hazardous environments."

Operating Android 4.1, the Z710-Ex is also the most secure rugged tablet on the market. Thanks to its high-security features, the OS is all but impenetrable to memory corruption.

At 7 inches, the tablet is also the ideal alternative to smaller handheld devices that have previously been commonplace in such hazardous environments.

"The larger screen size offers a better solution in terms of displaying complex graphics, datasheets and mapping programs," Mr Bryan says. "A number of users are migrating to the larger form factor to increase field capability and performance, and the device has an extended battery life to allow field workers to complete a normal shift without the need for recharging."

In addition to the Z710-Ex, Getac's PS336-Ex rugged handheld has also been awarded ATEX Zone 2/22 certification. With 1GHz of processing power and Getac's patented Flexiconn™ technology (allowing multiple functionality simply by swapping device caps), it is one of the most powerful handhelds on the market.

"Getac strives to develop innovative solutions that support Australians working in demanding environments," says Mr Bryan. "ATEX accreditation for the Z710 and PS336 presents field users with best-in-class technology that can be used in hazardous environments."

As well as EU Explosive Atmosphere ATEX Certification the Z710-Ex tablet is MIL-STD 810G and IP65 accredited. The PS336-Ex offers users MIL-STD 810G and IP68 certifications.

The new Z710-Ex and PS336-Ex sku is available for ordering in Australia now with the MSRP starts from AU$2,595 and AU$ 2,195 respectively. For more information visit: http://www.getac.com.au or contact your Synnex Getac Account Manager on 1300 100 104.
