NEW DELHI, April 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- UCWeb (http://www.ucweb.com/English/UCbrowser/index.html ),a leading global provider of mobile internet software and services, today announced its growth strategy for the Indian market. India is the second-largest growth market after China for UCWeb and its flagship product, UC Browser. Mr. Xiaopeng He, UCWeb Co-founder and President, said that the company considers India to be its second headquarter after China and will focus on video and download as a key differentiator to achieve leadership position in India. UCWeb also announced the release of updated versions of UC Browser, including video technology enhancement, crucial for Indian market localization.

UC Browser is the market leader in terms of user base, with more than 400 million users across 150 countries and regions, holding 25% of India’s mobile browser market.

“UCWeb has a single-minded focus to provide the best in class mobile internet browser to users. Our decision to open a development office in India demonstrates our commitment to the region and our mantra of ‘go local’,” Mr. He said. “We are working towards building an open ecosystem by investing in teams and technology in India. We truly believe that India will be a big contributor to our objective of becoming a billion-user company. We are working with partners by way of sharing traffic, users, and revenue with them; thus creating a mutually beneficial relationship for both. We are open to exploring fresh ideas and newer business models to sustain the vitality of the community.”

Commenting on the strategy of the company for the Indian market, Mr. Kenny Ye, Managing Director, UCWeb India, said, “In the Indian market we have seen a huge demand for watching videos and mobile downloads. UC Browser is leading the trend in this case as we are now further optimizing our product to negate the effects of slow and erratic networks and huge data costs. India is an interesting market in terms of usage, where the first interface of users with internet is via their cell phones rather than a PC. We aim to become the number one browser in India by end of 2013. ”
