NEW YORK, August 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vend, the top iPad POS software for retailers, today released an important update for its iPad app which enables PayPal-powered credit and debit processing, in addition to mobile payments through the PayPal app. Brick and mortar retailers can sign up for Vend online, connect a new or existing PayPal account, and start accepting traditional credit and debit card payments, as well as PayPal mobile payments, in minutes.

With industry trends pointing to the increasing demand for mobile POS systems, Vend's enhancements to its app couldn't have come at a better time. According to a study by IHL Group, 28% of North American retailers intend to "adopt mobile POS in some form by the end of 2013." Moreover, the report also predicted that the mobile POS market will exceed $2 billion dollars in hardware and software sales this year.

"This update isn't just a big step for the Vend app, it also marks a huge leap for retailers who wish to revolutionize how they do business," said Nick Houldsworth, Chief Marketing Officer at Vend.

Small Businesses, ditch that old cash register for something more modern

In addition to the app's new features, Vend is also participating in PayPal's Cash for Registers program, an offer that incentivizes merchants to retire their old cash registers and switch to a more modern point-of-sale system.

To encourage retailers to make the switch, PayPal will waive all qualifying PayPal Here transaction fees through January 2014 (terms apply). Businesses that wish to participate in the Cash for Registers program must qualify and signup by September 30, 2013.

"All incentives aside, PayPal's integration with our iPad app opens up more opportunities for merchants, not just in terms of revenue, but in customer relationships as well," says Houldsworth. "With this update, businesses will gain more insights about their customers through their PayPal accounts, so they can provide more personalized services."

And that's the most important thing: Merchants love it

"They make a great combination. Vend's integration with PayPal gives me the flexibility and mobility to accept various types of payments, while staying on top of my inventory, stores, and customer relationships at the same time," said Christina Ruiz, founder of TopShelf Boutique, San Francisco's first fashion truck.

Ruiz continued, "I have a fashion truck, an online store, and a brick & mortar location, so having a POS solution like Vend that can unify and keep up with all that is essential."
