Seawork Asia, the leader among peers in Asia, is an event created by professionals for professionals

SHANGHAI, November 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Seawork Asia 2014, with a wide range of impressive attendees and agendas, successfully concluded at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC) on November 6, 2014. Sixty-eight leading firms from 12 countries and regions worldwide had on exhibit 120 notable brands at the event, attracting nearly 3,000 industry insiders from 25 countries and regions. With several of the attendees visiting the event multiple times, more than 5,000 entries into the venue were recorded.

Officials from the Chinese government as well as from the government offices of several countries around the world paid close attention to Seawork Asia 2014 and were actively involved in the event. President of the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (CSNAME) Huang Pingtao, Deputy Director General of Maritime Safety Authority of Ministry of Transport Li Shixin, UK Trade and Investment Agency Business Consul Stewart Gorman all attended the event in person.

Exhibitors at Seawork Asia 2014 included many of the industry's leading players, including Amgram, SCANIA, Volvo Penta, Seakeeper, Changzhou FRP Boatbuilding, Guangdong Jianglong Shipbuilding, Tritex Holding, Aurora (Dalian) Yachts, Shanghai Qingfeng Technology, Shanghai Ocean Equipment and the China Classification Society. The presence of these leading companies under one roof assured a healthy competitive atmosphere throughout the hall.

The number of key industry players at the event reflected the high quality of the event itself. To assure a worthwhile experience for the industry professionals who attended the event and to fully satisfy the needs of buyers and sellers, Seawork Asia cooperated with government agencies and industry associations at all levels, including the State Oceanic Administration (SOA), China Coast Guard, the China Maritime Safety Administration, the Ministry of Transport Salvage Bureau, the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry, the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, the Zhejiang Association of Shipbuilding Industry (ZASI) and the Jiangsu Association of Shipbuilding Industry (JASI).

Over 200 guests participated in the "Workboat and Patrol Boat in Asia, Market Trends and Analysis Summit Forum 2014", an important component of Seawork Asia 2014 that took place concurrently to the event. The Forum focused on an analysis of the status and demand of workboats for the Chinese Ministry of Transport as well as setting expectations in terms of the China Classification Society's rules, in addition to providing an information exchange platform between domestic and foreign companies. Industry leaders gave speeches where they shared in-depth knowledge and expertise on new technical developments and industry trends as well as provided a general overview of the current commercial marine, workboat and patrol boat market. China Coast Guard Ship Management Section of Logistics and Equipment Section Chief Zhou Xiaolu said: "The patrol boat market is a market with huge potential. Seawork Asia is being held at a most auspicious time." Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce Department of Trade in Services Chief Sun Jiarong said: "We hope that companies at home and from abroad will gain extensive and intensive knowledge and have access to collaborative opportunities as a result of Seawork Asia. We hope that Chinese shipbuilders will take advantage of this platform to speed up the pace of adapting to the international market."

The Asian Shipping Technology Trade Fair, initiated by Shanghai International Technology Import and Export Promotion Center, has arranged nearly 20 business meetings for domestic and foreign companies, with the mission of setting up a "one to one", "face to face" efficient business platform. Many overseas firms including AALCO, Amgram, Ameralys, Kort Propulsion and Seakeeper have benefited in large measure from the fair and signed several memorandums of understanding. They all noted that the industry-specific platform that Seawork Asia has provided is, in effect, a shortcut for them to get a foothold in the Asian market. As a result of their better understanding of local conditions, each firm plans to leverage their individual strengths and to display even better products and technologies at Seawork Asia 2016.

During the Public Speaking segment of the event, the industry's leading players, Mariso -- Cygnus's exclusive distributor in China, Aalco, Shanghai Ocean Equipment and Shanghai Great Law Firm, each showcased their technological achievements and innovative ideas.

Seawork Asia 2016, to kick off in Shanghai from November 1st to 3rd, 2016, is looking forward to bringing the industry's players together once again.
