Yongye International Supports the Agricultural Technology Caravan Project Together with China Agriculture University and China Central Television

BEIJING, July 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Yongye International, Inc. (NASDAQ: YONG), a leading agricultural nutrient company in China ("Yongye" or the "Company"), announced today that the Company recently provided exclusive support to the "2011 Yongye Shengmingsu - Technology Caravan, A Thousand People Sending Farming Technology to the Countryside" project (the "Technology Caravan Project"), which is hosted by the China Agriculture University and China Central Television Agricultural Channel, CCTV 7. CCTV 7 is the only national agriculture-focused TV channel in China. Mr. Bingsheng Ke, President of China Agriculture University and Mr. Baosheng Tong, Yongye's Chief Scientist attended the Technology Caravan Project opening ceremony on July 10, 2011.

The Technology Caravan Project aims to bring advanced farming technology to the rural areas in China, while promoting technological applications for farming. In addition to Shengmingsu, the advanced farming technology and applications promoted include crop protection and usage of seeds and pesticide among others.

The project also offers an opportunity for university students to gain real agricultural operation experience. About 500 students from the China Agriculture University have joined the Technology Caravan Project. These students will form 63 separate teams and work together with agricultural technology experts and technical support staff from Yongye branded stores to form a task force comprised of around one thousand people. Through their participation, the Yongye branded stores can provide more value added services to farmers in their villages and develop stronger customer loyalty. The Technology Caravan Project is expected to build over 1,000 demonstration sites and reach 50,000 rural farming families this summer through the promotion of farming technologies in nine major agricultural regions in China.
